Porsche's new 2011 GT2RS is now officially the quickest production car lapping the Nurburgring in 7m 18s.  Specifications on the new 911 GT2RS are 3075lbs, 620hp/ 516ftlbs, 0-60 in 3.4s with a power to weight ratio of 4.96.  The official debut will be at the Moscow Auto Show on August 25th.

Porsche just announced at the Geneva motor show the 918 Spyder hybrid.  The 918 Spyder will incorporate a 500HP V8 and is augmented by electric motors on both front and rear adding an additional 218hp.  Estimated 0-60mph in 3.2 seconds.  With a full carbon chassis and hybrid technology the 918 Spyder will get an estimated 78mpg.

Porsche Motorpsorts announced the latest edition 911 Racer incorproating hybrid technology.  The new GT3R flat six produces 480hp in addition the front axles incorporates two electric motors.  What is unique is that there are no batteries and power is generated with an electric flywheel inside the car.  The flywheel is powered from the front braking system.  The hybrid technology assist two ways in racing-additional horsepower as well as fuel savings.  The first racing event will be the 24 Hours on the Nordschleife of Nürburgring on May 15th and 16th.
